Let’s scan through our Bibles to the point where Elisha visited the widow n her son. She had nothing; all she had was a pot full of her LAST oil which she was about using to prepare their LAST meal. Now, this widow; even though that was her very last, gave it out to the glory of GOD. It was a do or die affair. She was going to die anyways so why not just die there and then? She did something that most of us seated here today will find it hard to phantom.
Here, we get to know that when we give what is of the highest value to the LORD, He sees to it that our needs are met. He sees to it that we never lack and that we are never found wanting. Thus, she had to run to her neighbors to ask for more pots so as to contain the blessings of the LORD. So wonderful isn’t it? Everyone, every single person in and around our vicinity will attest to the blessings when the LORD visits us just because we gave.
Abraham, the godfather of faith teaches us to give. How? He was willing to give his son. Matter of fact, he wasn’t just willing to give; he gave his only son to the LORD. He was at the point of sacrificing Isaac when the LORD told him to stop. You will all attest to the outcome of his actions thereafter. That is the power of giving. Such is the nature of the GOD we serve.
Jesus also told us of a woman who gave her all to the LORD. She presented all she had to the LORD as offering. One may ask, didn’t she think it through? Or perhaps she had a little somewhere she would have used after wards – NO! Jesus said she gave her ALL. What are you giving unto the LORD dearly beloved?
All these people gave not because they were out of their minds or anything of that nature. But they gave out because they had to. Their rewards for giving were not known to them but it was known to GOD. Beloved in the LORD, cast your hearts open like fishing nets into the sea before and around you, you will see that there a dozen people in dire need of help. GOD has blessed you this much so you can also be a blessing unto others. In your own small way, extend a helping hand and the LORD shall once again meet you at the point of your needs.
David said “I will not give to the LORD my GOD offerings that cost me nothing.” Barnabas recognized and supported new talent (Paul, John and Mark) He gave them the credibility they needed to get started.
Luke 6:38 - Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom.
Eph. 2:10 - For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again” - Your giving is part of your unique workmanship that GOD built into you.
LIFE is a gift and it offers us the privilege, opportunity and responsibility to give something back by becoming more. By giving, it’s not the receiver who merits more but the giver for the blessings of the LORD shall rest upon him/her. GOD taught us the Art of GIVING when HE gave up HIS only begotten Son unto the world. Be wise!
